Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Matt Logan is a seasoned songwriter and performer who’s been immersed in music for most of his life. He cut his teeth playing with Des Moines and Iowa City-based bands for over a decade, performing everywhere from small-town bars to music festivals across the Midwest. Those formative years shaped his sound and performance style, leaving a lasting impact that he carries into his solo work today.
In 2013, after earning a master’s degree in music therapy, Matt relocated to San Francisco, where he’s built a career healing with music. Specializing in pediatric medical music therapy, he works with young patients undergoing cancer treatment and stem cell transplants, using music as a tool for healing and hope. His contributions to the field have been highlighted in numerous music therapy conferences and community events, where he’s presented keynotes on the powerful, evidence-based benefits of music in the healthcare space.
Beyond his therapeutic work, Matt has become a fixture in the San Francisco music scene, collaborating with established acts like Spud Buddy and Alvie & the Breakfast Pigs. His solo music is where he dives deep into reflection, transforming life’s complexities into soulful, thought-provoking songs that resonate with listeners on a personal level. Influenced by his wide range of experiences, each track invites you into a world rich with emotion, introspection, and honest storytelling.
When he’s not creating or performing, Matt can often be found reading, exploring the culture and history of winemaking, or pondering the economics of life as an artist.
